Neighbors for Responsible Transportation (NRT) Forum on ST2 (Prop 1)

October 1st, 2008

From the people that organized the Forum on Quiet Pavement (or Rubberized Asphalt-RA) in 2005:

Neighbors for Responsible Transportation (NRT) has organized our second Transportation Forum, this time on the Sound Transit (2) tax proposal for fall 2008, scheduled for:

This coming Saturday, October 4th at Bellevue City Hall in Council Chambers from 10:00am-11:30am.

Our Forum Moderator will be radio commentator and newspaper columnist John Carlson.

Our speakers will include 2 YES speakers: 41st District Rep. Fred Jarrett, and John Franklin of CH2M Hill, and

2 NO speakers: Dick Paylor of the Eastside Transportation Association, and Ted Lane, an economist and traffic-noise-impact consultant.

Here are some questions that we would like to have answered:

• What will we pay in increased sales and other taxes?
• What can we expect in the way of congestion relief?
• How does bus rapid transit (BRT) compare to light rail transit (LRT)?
• Will there be noise impacts?
• Will we see elevated light rail corridors like at Sea-Tac?
• When will the system be operational?
• What will we get for our money?
• If we don’t approve Proposition One, what will happen?

ATTEND THE TRANSPORTATION FORUM on ST2/Prop1, and direct your questions to elected officials and transportation experts on regional transportation issues!
